Board the Train in Thessaloniki
Your journey to Olympus begins in Thessaloniki where you will board the train at the Thessaloniki Railway Station at 10:30pm. Make sure to arrive at least 30 minutes prior to departure in order to find your train and seat.
The Archaeological Site of Dion
First stop on our all-day Olympus trip is the archaeological site of Dion. Coined the holy city of the ancient Macedonians, the site of Dion hosts statues of the ancient city as well as an impressive museum where you can observe all the ancient findings from Dion and Pieria.
The Crusader Castle of Platamon
Next stop on our trip from Thessaloniki to Mt. Olympus is a visit to the Castle of Platamon. This Crusader castle was built between 1204 and 1222 on a strategic position overlooking the valley of Tempe where the main road connects Macedonia with Thessaly and southern Greece. Explore this medieval fortress before heading to Olympus.
The Bathtub of Zeus
Upon arriving to Mount Olympus, we’ll take a short hike to the gorge of Enipeas. Observe the bathtub of Zeus with its accompanying waterfall and take in all nature has to offer in this alluring scenery.
The Village of Litochoro
Final stop on this Olympus all-day tour is the village of Litochoro. Built right at the foothills of mount Olympus, Litochoro is a traditional Macedonian village surrounded by lush greenery. Here, you will have some time to eat at a local tavern or to explore this historic town.
Board the Train at Katerini
Once our Olympus and Dion trip comes to an end, we will drive you to the city of Katerini where you will board the train back to Thessaloniki.

Take a step back in time and explore the culture and history surrounding Mount Olympus on this Mount Olympus And Dion Day Trip From Thessaloniki By Train. Explore the ancient sanctuary of Dion, which was once a center of worship of the gods of Olympus, before visiting the medieval Castle of Platamon.
Soak in the exceptional view from Platamon Castle that overlooks the Thermaikos Gulf. Continuing the Olympus day trip you’ll have the opportunity to observe the captivating bathtub of Zeus, hidden within the gorge of Enipeas.
Finishing off a day of exploring the mythical home of the Greek gods, we will drive you to the Katerini train station to board the train back to Thessaloniki.

- The train from Thessaloniki to Katerini tickets are all issued on 2nd class seats as standard. If you wish to upgrade them to 1st class seats you may choose to add to your basket the 1st class seats upgrade add-on before you complete the booking.
- Shall you intend to continue your trip to Athens instead, we can arrange the tickets for an additional cost.

Damian was a very fun and knowledgeable guide! The train ride is long from Athens but it was worth the day trip. You get to see Greece along the way which is so valuable. Once you reach Katerini, each stop with Damian was informative and enjoyable! Dion, lunch with locals, the foothills of Mount Olympus and the beautiful castle were all worthwhile stops. We would recommend to anyone!

The train trip from and to Athens is long but comfortable. Once we met our guide, Jason, we were off on the adventure. Some of the archeological sites are self-guided and you need to move fast to see all the sites at them. We were joined by another for the trip. We all had the same priorities of more time with Mt. Olympus (did see the site of Dion). Once we got into the mythology and history of Greece, we found Jason very engaging and we learned a lot. Mt. Olympus is beautiful and I had no idea that Greece received snow. The waters of Olympus are amazing to see. Loved this trip.
